Trusted. Secure. Accurate. Transparent.

QuantityWare’s Bulk Calculations Solution (BCS) for SAP Oil, Gas, and Energy contains a state-of-the-art quantity conversion software. Once implemented it is fully integrated, supporting the latest measurement standards. Faster and more secure than legacy external routines, BCS has full support and maintenance, including continuous improvement.

Two Key Roles

Quantity conversions within your SAP Oil, Gas, and Energy system fulfill two important roles:

The “Gatekeeper”

This role ensures that quantity values created by external systems somewhere in the “field” are sanity-checked before being used as the basis for all business decisions and financial values.

Controlled by the business, in well-defended systems, transparently manageable, documented and provable, ensuring compliance.

The “Enricher”

This role takes any standard quantity calculation values and (after sanity-checking – see Gatekeeper role) enriches these values with virtually any additional quantity values for business, contract or regulatory requirements.

E.g. You move 100,000 cubic metres of product at 15 ºC. QuantityWare calculates the quantity value in gallons at 60 ºF.

Why is QuantityWare Needed?

A Complete Solution

SAP Oil, Gas, and Energy does not deliver any validated, measurement standards-based conversion implementation, owing to complexity and risk, this has always been a customer task.

Business processes require thousands of quantity calculations per day. These calculations also control and enrich thousands of external measurement data sets per day.

SAP Oil, Gas, and Energy comes with an open interface – the Quantity Conversion Interface (QCI).

QuantityWare’s BCS plugs into this interface and provides the only SAP-certified ABAP quantity calculation solution, available to all SAP Oil, Gas, and Energy customers – BCS is the state-of-the-art solution for the quantity conversion challenges in the oil & gas industries. A simple example is the unique support of Vapor Space calculations.

Improved Cyberattack Protection

All complex distributed IT systems have some form of vulnerability which lead to risk exposure – that is a fact of life.

However, one major SAP Oil, Gas, and Energy vulnerability can be simply and seamlessly removed through usage of QuantityWare’s BCS to replace legacy quantity calculation methods.

Additionally, BCS brings transparency and GRC benefits to associated Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system quantity values.

See our detailed security bulletin, which describes how QuantityWare BCS achieves this.
