“Miscellaneous Hydrocarbon Product Properties – Denatured Ethanol Density and Volume Correction Factors” has been issued as a third edition in May 2019. QuantityWare has analyzed this new version and confirms that existing BCP implementations of API MPMS Chapter 11.3.3 comply with this latest version. In addition, this new edition provides pressure correction logic, which is relevant if ethanol is metered at elevated pressures. QuantityWare will thus define and deliver an advanced development, which will enable API MPMS 11.3.3 CPL calculations.

In this newly-released QuantityWare document, we build on our popular working paper LPG Vapor Space Calculations to provide comparison calculation results for vapor space and liquid volume properties of Butadiene. As several calculation standards are available for a single product group, we clearly demonstrate that it is of the utmost importance for business partners to agree on a common measurement standard basis for their business transaction processes.
The American Petroleum Institute has published the API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards Chapter 12.1.1 – Calculation of Static Petroleum Quantities – Upright Cylindrical Tanks and Marine Vessels Part 1 as fourth edition in February 2019.
QuantityWare has carefully analyzed this new edition and confirms that all BCS MQCI Crude Oil & Products Calculation Models, which are in compliance with the third edition, do also comply with the fourth edition of API MPMS Chapter 12.1.1 Part 1. Note that SAP Tank Management Calculations are also affected by this standard, for which QuantityWare cannot make any technical compliance statement.
As communicated in an earlier news item, ASTM D1550 was revised and issued as ASTM D1550-2018 in December 2018. An advanced development is now available via note 000080 to enable certified consultants to perform implementations of ASTM D1550-2018 conversions in customer projects from today on.
ASTM D2962 was re-approved in January 2019 under the designation ASTM D2962-10(2019). Thus, existing implementations based on ASTM D2962-10 are in compliance with this re-approved version. This will be reflected in the PMC online measurement standards documentation, which will be delivered together with the advanced development of ASTM D1550-2018 conversions as a notes transport.
ASTM D1550 has been revised and issued as ASTM D1550-2018 in December 2018. QuantityWare has carefully analyzed this new edition. A major change in this edition is the revision of the weight calculation method, which is now synchronized with the latest API MPMS standards. Thus, QuantityWare will provide a new MQCI implementation of ASTM D1550-2018, which will include this change. This implementation and template extension will be delivered with BCS 3.0 CSP02 (planned delivery Q4 2019). An advanced development will be made available in April 2019 via a notes transport to enable certified consultants to perform implementations of ASTM D1550-2018 conversions in customer projects from that point in time.
As communicated in our news item from November 2017, ISO 6578 has been published as a second edition in October 2017. Today QuantityWare released note 000076, which delivers guidance for certified consultants requiring earlier configuration support for their customers. The note also delivers documentation adjustments and new Gas Measurement Cockpit (GMC) print options for LNG ISO 6578 density calculations.
ISO/TR 19441:2018 – Petroleum products – Density versus temperature relationships of current fuels, biofuels and biofuel components, published February 2018. It provides fundamental and detailed background information to consultants implementing QuantityWare BCP for such products. It also references the QuantityWare working paper “Temperature corrections for biofuel – mineral fuel/heating oil mixtures”, which provides guidance on the choice of relevant quantity conversion standards.
With the release of our latest service portal version, we have enhanced our previous portal “Help” (a pdf) and made all information available in a “Wiki” format- the “QWiki”.
Available via the portals “Help” menu or directly under https://www.quantityware.com the QWiki contains not only our service portal documentation, but will be extended with information, hints and tips regarding all aspects of our Bulk Calculations Solution over the coming months.
